Tips to Stay on Track and in School
How to Keep From Stopping Out
Car troubles, sickness, family issues, losing daycare, or other emergencies can happen to anyone. Don’t blame yourself if they happen to you. When you face a personal challenge, try to avoid stopping out of college. It can be hard to hit that reset button. Develop a plan to help you deal with unexpected events so you can keep on learning and get your degree.
- Ask for help
Get in touch with student services professionals on campus and talk with them about your situation. - Don’t think that stopping out is the first option
First explore other resources and possibilities. Stopping out should be among the last options to consider, not the first. - Check out emergency funding
Find out if your school has emergency grants or loans to help you get your car fixed or pay a new daycare provider.
