Checking and Saving Accounts
Bank Accounts 101
Having a bank account allows you to take advantage of direct deposit for your paychecks, financial aid, and tax refund. If you decide to open an account, you have a lot of options. You can open accounts at credit unions, local or community banks, national banks with local branches, and even virtual banks that do all their business online.
Once you open a checking or savings account at a bank or a credit union, you can access your money any time you need it. You can use a debit card, write a paper check, or withdraw money in person at the bank or an ATM.
It’s a simple process, but you will need to gather information and identification ahead of time.
