Enrolling in College
Pre-Enrollment & Enrollment
Pre-Enrollment
There are a number of things to take care of before you arrive on campus. Some are more time sensitive than others due to deadlines or space availability. College systems and processes can vary, however the list below will get you started:
- Official registration login and password
This is very important. Often times, you cannot register, apply for housing, pay fees and tuition, or purchase parking passes without it. It also lets all departments on campus know you are an incoming student; shortly after, they will begin sending you information needed for your first semester. - College email address
This is also important as it typically serves as your access to the college’s registration and academic systems. It could be the main way your college communicates with you for important information. When you confirm your acceptance, ask when to expect it. - Final financial aid award letter and acceptance
Your college is working on award letters for a number of students. Finalizing your details as early as possible can prevent delays in releasing the money to pay for tuition, fees, and other expenses. - Housing application
Housing options can be limited. Quickly evaluate your on-campus and off-campus options and secure your housing well in advance. There are a number of advantages to on-campus housing (if available), including closer access to campus facilities and less need for transportation. - Register for Orientation
Orientation spaces fill up fast. Early sessions offer more flexibility in creating your first semester schedule with an academic advisor. - Get to know the school’s registration and academic portal
You’ll manage a number of things here, it’s good to know your way around. - Update your student profile
The college will want to know more about you, including emergency contacts and important medical information, car make, model, color, and license plate number (if you will have one on campus).
